I have just downloaded the files for Molflow 2.6.62 however when opening the application there is not a bar with file, edit, facet, view etc. My screen is shown below, does anyone know how I can fix this?

thanks

Michael

I've never seen this error before but my guess would be that you vertical screen resolution is too low. Molflow needs a minimum 800 pixels height (plus the height of the start menu) to fit the screen. I'm confused though as if I minimize the app the bottom is missing, which is the intended behavior:

Thanks for the quick reply, you are correct my screen resolution is 1366x768, do you know if the program should still show the file buttons even if the entire window cannot fit on the screen? Or will it only work on screens >800 pixels high?

As said above, the menubar should always be visible and the bottom hidden. Try unmaximizing the window, and manually decreasing the non-maximized wondow size to fit the screen.

Ok, when unmaximising there is stil the same issue. There is definitely something odd happening , when positioning the mouse over a checkbox on the menu on the right, it is the button one above where the mouse is positioned that responds (e.g. placing mouse over 'lines' checks and unchecks the 'rules' box in the 3D viewer settings) . However this only occurs for the top half of the window, so the profile pl. button works as expected.

I have just found that i can access the buttons and choose 'full screen' view by placing the mouse at the position where the buttons should be. This then shows all of the screen and works fine :) .

Well, sorry for the trouble. Molflow is written in a somewhat outdated graphics framework that I have relatively little control on. One of the drawbacks is that coordinates are fixed and elements can't resize automatically. You can collapse/expand panels, for example only expand the "selected facet" panel when you need it - gaiing vertical space.

To be honest, on the long term it will be quite painful to work with so little screen area - doing MC simulations would benefit from a larger monitor. If you wish, you might let me know if the issue is the same with earlier versions (you can find them in the Downloads page). If it is something recent, I'll have a look.

I've only read your comment about the workaround you found - great!

As for my previous reply, here is the button allowing to collapse panels:

And the result will be like this:

I've just run into this as well using a large monitor with a laptop, display resolution 1920x1080 (very wide screen).  Could you add a keyboard shortcut to go to full screen so that this is easier to get to than trying to get the mouse to pick up?  I don't know if it is my aspect ratio or something else on the new computer that is causing it, but I couldn't solve it with playing around with display settings.

I was playing around with my display settings to get molflow visible on my newer computer - I got into the NVIDIA control panel, manage 3D settings, and added Molflow+ to the programs using the High-performance NVIDIA processor rather than the autoselected "Integrated graphics".  My file bar is back!

Thank you Marcy for the feedback. I admit that I couldn't ever really investigate this issue as I never ran into it before. Glad you found a fix, will suggest to others as well
